TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT MANAGER

 

 

The purpose of this role is to educate new and existing employees on how to effectively perform their jobs, providing on the job education to newly hired employees as well as enhanced education to current employees keeping everyone up to date on changes in the industry that affect job requirements.

The candidate will identify training and developmental needs and deliver a wide range of technical and soft skill training as part of our client's Academy to help facilitate the professional development of our staff, enhancing employees’ skills, performance, productivity and quality of work.

The candidate will be expected to demonstrate a strong commitment to providing quality and innovative employee learning, creating a supportive environment that provides access to on-going and well-coordinated activities with the goal of maintaining the highest quality of services for students and employees.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design, implement, monitor and deliver on a framework of learning that is consistent, on-brand and based on both business and individual needs, ensuring statutory training requirements are met

  • Amend and tailor established training material to meet the needs of the different jurisdictional offices in conjunction with the Training Board

  • Deliver both technical and soft skill training on a structured basis throughout the year

  • Act as a first point of contact for external training providers regarding instructional design, utilisation of internal resources to create and/or oversee the creation of meaningful internal training, education and development of alternatives

  • Assist to select or develop teaching aids such as training handbooks, quick reference cards, brochures, online tutorials, demonstration models, multimedia visual and presentation aids, etc.

  • Assist in identifying the training needs of employees and proposing solutions based on both the business and individual’s needs, ensuring statutory training requirements are met

  • Participate in needs analysis studies with key stakeholders to determine training needs and preferred approach or training best practices across the Group. Work to keep training programs vibrant and entertaining to engage employees applying the latest teaching techniques to a training environment

  • Formulate teaching support materials and determine instructional methods such as individual training, group instruction, demonstrations, web conferences, face to face meetings or lunch and learn workshops

  • Work as part of the wider training team to develop, maintain and conduct effective learning and developmental activities, including the analysis and effective evaluation required for the acquisition of core competencies and maintenance of required knowledge and skills, including specified areas such as new product implementation, product use and other specific customisations such as intranet pages

  • Handle internal and external logistics for training activities including venues and equipment

  • Demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students as well as any physical and/or learning disabilities

  • Act as a point of contact for the successful management of staff commencing or continuing with professional qualifications, including liaising with service providers and staff to ensure individuals are fully supported as they progress with their exams

  • Partner with internal stakeholders regarding employee training needs in order to support the design of an individualised development plan that addresses needs and expectations

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EXPERTISE

  • 2-5 year post qualification experience as an Acccountant, supported by a relevant professional qualification (ACCA or ACA)

  • Sound technical knowledge of the funds industry

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to develop close working relationships with colleagues, and business contacts

  • Experience as a trainer demonstrating a track record in designing and executing successful training programs

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including group facilitation and presentation skills including experience with presentation tools like PowerPoint and/or desk top publishing software; high energy, enthusiastic and motivational training style

  • Strong analytical statistical, quantitative, and deduction skills and ability to make qualitative judgments of training, education and development resources in all types and formats and translate findings into actionable next steps

  • Excellent creative and conceptual thinking abilities

  • Ability to work with management to align learning/leadership development with succession planning initiatives

  • Demonstrated knowledge of laws and regulations relating to mandated compliance training is desirable

  • Team player

  • Must be able to plan, multi-task and manage time effectively to manage a demanding time schedule

  • Travel to other jurisdictional offices will be required
